Long Time No Post!

I'm back on Canadian soil! Yay!

The Fiancé and I are back from our escapades in Tokyo, Japan. I'll have posts up hopefully soon. But let's be honest, I have a metric butt ton of baking and cooking to catch up on before Christmas. (And, of course, with my infantile immune system, I caught a Japanese disease of some kind and am now sick.)

All the things, all the time!

As Always.

December

Whelp. December is here.

Mind blown.

It's been an insane year. New friends, new adventures, and new experiences that I will never forget.

Apparently I'mma getting all nostalgic about only one year.... It was a pretty eventful year though. First full year away from Alberta; New friends and new places; Best friend's wedding; Total of 12 people came to visit; Also, New dream job. And it's not over. The BF is going to be giving a talk at a conference in Tokyo, Japan at the end of the week. So we'll have to be there, in Japan. Exciting/terrifying...?

So I'll hopefully have some travel posts from Japan, of course. And potentially some holiday baking posts too. (I don't actually celebrate Christmas but bring on the decorations and hot toddy/mulled wine! Mmmmmm.)

The Half-Assed Hobbyist

Meh.

So over the last couple months I've been watching The Simpsons. As a child I wasn't 'allowed' to watch it, and I really never found that I was missing too much.

Surprisingly, the feeling of not missing much wasn't because The Simpsons isn't worth watching, quite the opposite. I felt like I wasn't missing much because The Simpsons is Such an important piece of North American culture that, despite having Never seen a full episode before this year in my life, I know the songs, the famous lines and general humour the show is loved for.

My mind has been blown more than once, finding out that playground songs I sung almost two decades ago were from a show I was forbidden to watch.

And we're only on season 5, where, in my opinion, it's only starting to hit it's stride.

Anyway, I'm happy to finally be enjoying a cultural phenomenon that has been going for over 20 years. It's pretty fun! (Minus the Itchy and Scratchy Show... that just makes me nauseous....)
